Today on the 6th Sunday of Lent, Palm Sunday, we place with the cross a large nail to represent the wrong doings and injustice in our world. Jesus was captured and sentenced to death on the cross. He was forced to carry His wooden cross through the streets of Jerusalem to the place of crucifixion where He was nailed to that same cross.
Through the pain and anguish of the moment - when envy, hate, pride, cruelty all came to a climax - we hear Jesus saying from His cross to every person, "Father, forgive them."
Bible reading: John 19:17-18
"Father, help us to follow Jesus' example for forgiveness in our everyday relationships; to be a little more kind, a little more generous, and a little more patient with those around us. Help us to always keep Jesus' spirit with us in our daily lives and let us never forget the Easter experience. Amen.
