Children's Choir Programs

We have three active and thriving children’s choirs that serve our church community:

  • Preschoolers serve in our Cherub Choir.
  • Kindergarten through third (K-3) graders serve in our Rainbow Choir
  • Fourth and up serve in our Youth Choir.

Choirs rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from September-May:

  • Cherubs from 4:00-4:25 PM
  • Rainbows from 4:30-5:00 PM
  • Youth Choir from 6:30-7:15 PM

Our rehearsal time focuses on building children’s musical skills, such as singing, playing instruments, and reading music; building caring relationships with other children within a faith community; and encouraging an active prayer life.

Choirs serve at Sunday worship once a month, and also lead a special service during Advent. Click here to view/print the 2017/2018 schedule.

These Youth Choirs are under the direction of Jill Caynor, a licensed music teacher in the state of VA with over 15 years experience.

Choirs accept new members in September and January.  No audition is required.  Please discuss this opportunity with your child and contact Jill Caynor, (757) 332-0930 with any questions or to sign up for the coming year.

Youth Bells is under the direction of Janet Phelps and is open to 4th graders and up. Learn to read music and enjoy the art of handbell ringing. Rehearsals are each Thursday at 6:15 PM in the Bells Room.

For more information or to sign-up to participate in any of our Youth or Adult music program opportunities, please contact Janet Phelps.
