Nurture Committees
 

Bereavement Committee

Mission: This committee is responsible for offering practical assistance to individuals with the KGPC family when there is a serious family need.

Committee Members: Musette Weber, Brenda Stone, Dorothy Roth, Charlotte Carson, Polly Morison, vivian Phelps, Florence Strange, Nancy Young.

Visiting Deacons: Mission is to visit members of the Church family who have physical, emotional, or spiritual needs. Coordinator is Pastor Sel Harris. Contact person: Gary Harrell. Other Deacons are Sherry Hatfield, Polly Morison and Eleanor Perry. For more information, contact Gary Harrell

Faith Community Nurses provide free blood pressure checks the last Sunday of each month in the Church Library.
Take advantage of this important health service.
High blood pressure is a hidden killer.

Faith Community Nurses: The mission is to visit members of the Church family to minister to their wellness needs. Contact person is Betty Chidester. The committee meets the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Other Member include Helen Bernd, Carol Bibbs, Sandy Colby, Sheila Jennings, Cathy Hawley, and Donna Hoberg


Nursery and Child Care

Mission: Care of infants and toddlers is available during Church services and Sunday School. the Crib Nursery is available for younger children and the Toddler Nursery is available for children ages 2-4. Volunteers are needed. Contact Sharon Gardner

The payer chain is a vital link for those in our fellowship who would like to raise prayers for those in need of spiritual or physical healing. To raise a prayer request, contact Coordinator Pollie Morison or

Presbyterian Women

Purpose: To provide opportunities for women of the church to grow in the knowledge of Christ. We commit ourselves to nurturing our faith though prayer and Bible study, supporting the church worldwide, working for justice and peace and building an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthen the PCUSA and its witness to the promises of God's kingdom.

Circles: Women seeking additional growth or an outlet for service may choose to join a circle. Circles include Elizabeth, which meets 2nd Tuesday of the month in the morning. Lydia, which meets2nd Tuesday of the month in the evening. Lorraine Jordana is leader. Eve, which meets 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Church. Julie Seipel leads this group. Presbyterian Men: Purpose is to lead men to a vital relationship with Jesus; to develop men's understanding of the mission of the church; and to encourage men through their commitment to Christ, to fulfill the ministry to which they are called in their homes, their daily lives, and their community. Scheduled meeting will resume shortly.

Golden Guys & Gals

Purpose: The Gold Guys and Gals is a group of seniors, age 50 or older, who wish to share their gifts and talents with others. Our Goal is fun, fellowship and spiritual enrichment.
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month, September through June. Check calendar for details

Church History: The mission of this committee is to keep a record of church history including articles and pictures of significant events. Gary Harrell and Ann Burton are the contact people. Click here for a review of recent church history.

Meals on Wheels: Church volunteers deliver meals prepared by Sentara Nursing Center to those unable to prepare food for themselves. KGPC is responsible for providing a delivery team of two people daily for one week each month. Vivian Phelps is the coordinator.

Member Assimilation: Sherry Hatfield coordinates this active follow-up with new church members.

Church Newsletter: The newsletter is to communicate church related information to church members each month and is now delivered via E-Mail. . Julie Seipel and Jacque Camlet with John Morison assisting as Moderator of Communications, are the newsletter editors. Articles are welcomed Send them to Jacque Camlet in WORD, Times Roman type, 12 pts with no spaces between the lines.
